Read Across America

At the beginning of the school year, the elementary set a goal of reading 10,000 books by March 2, 2021. As of last week they had read over 9,100 and were doing a big push to reach their goal.  A couple of different times last week Mr. Tessau would announce that it was D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read) time.  We are all anxiously looking forward to Tuesday  to hear if the goal was met. If the goal of 10,000 books is reached, Mr. Tessau will pitch a tent on top of the elementary school roof for one night!  And... Mrs. Dentlinger will donate $1000 in books to the school if we reach 13,000 books by the end of the year!

In honor of Dr. Seuss’s upcoming birthday (Read Across America), we will be reading and exploring a variety of Dr. Seuss books. To help celebrate, we have planned a week (March 1st-5th) of fun-filled activities and dress-up days for all students.

Below is a schedule of our planned dress-up days. Please do not feel like you need to buy a special outfit for each day. We encourage you to be creative and use items you already have at home. Students will be going outside for recess, so please wear appropriate shoes.

Monday, March 1st: The Sleep Book

No need to change out of those comfy PJs in the morning. We will be starting our week with Pajama Day.

Tuesday, March 2nd: Green Eggs and Ham

Wear as much GREEN as you can to celebrate this well-known children’s book!

Wednesday, March 3rd: Wacky Wednesday

Let’s get SILLY! Wear your clothes inside out, backward, or mismatched on this wacky day!

Thursday, March 4th: Cat in the Hat

Be like the Cat in the Hat himself, and wear your FAVORITE HAT to class!

Friday, March 5th: Fox In Socks

Show off your crazy, fun, or mismatched socks!
