Equine station

In October, we wrote a grant requesting funding to host student health days in conjunction with Wildwood Hills Ranch.  The idea was to provide learning opportunities and some fun for our students around the topic of health, mental health, stress, etc.  We were pleased to have been awarded this grant.  On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week students took part in various rotations

The rotations included:

Equine Team building: Students will work in small groups with a horse to accomplish specific challenges. This will require teamwork, communication, problem solving, and horse care. (Students will not be riding the horse, but they will interact with it on the ground, while being supervised and assisted by our equine staff)

Health & Wellness: Resilience and personal health are developed and challenged in times of stress. This year has been like no other, so in this session, students will learn and practice strategies for physical, mental, and emotional health.

Leadership Growth: What makes a leader worth following? In this session, students will get to discuss this question plus learn about practical ways they can learn to lead themselves and ultimately impact others in positive ways.

Identity: Who am I? This is a question we each ask throughout our life, and it’s a big one! In this session, students will discuss how our identity can be positively and negatively influenced, how what we do is different than who we are, and how what we believe about ourselves leads to how we interact with others.

Purpose Discovery: We believe that everyone has a unique contribution to make to the world and that we are given a lifetime to discover and add to that contribution. In this session, students will learn how their purpose is the intersection of what they love to do, what they are good at, and what the world needs.

Snapshot of Success: “Follow your dreams” is a nice phrase people say sometimes, but when it gets practical we sometimes struggle with what our dreams are, or what first step to take. In this session, students will get to dream about their futures and also discuss what steps they may be able to take even this year to pursue their dream.
