Family Supports heading image

Interstate 35 Community School district is dedicated to ensuring all students come to school fully prepared to learn, and in some cases, that means supporting students' food needs. I-35 offers two quality programs, Roadrunner Backpack Program and Roadrunner Food Pantry, to our students and their families to help ensure that no student is distracted from their learning because of food insecurity. Each program is directed by Mrs. Rose Dickinson who can be reached at 641-765-4818 or rdickinson@roadrunnerpride.org for more information about supporting or participating in these programs.

Roadrunner Backpack Program

The Roadrunner Backpack Program was started in 2014 as a grassroots program by Sue Meggers and has been supporting students and families since that time.  The program is intended to ensure all families in our district have access to food and to alleviate food insecurity that families may face.  It is an informal program in which there are no requirements families are required to meet or show proof of, and is open to any Interstate 35 student or family.  Food is sent home with students on a weekly basis to provide support for meals during the weekend or on breaks.  Currently we have 17 families with a total of 38 school age students.

If you would like to join the Program,  help support the Program, or have any additional questions and/or concerns, please contact Rose Dickinson at rdickinson@roadrunnerpride.org
