Madison County resident Ella Scott received the Top Award in the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) Illustrated Essay Contest. Children 12 and under from across Iowa submitted illustrated essays explaining why county government is important to Iowans. Three top awards were given based on essay and illustration creativity, positivity, originality, and overall impression.

Ella is a fifth grader at I-35 School and resides in Truro. Her favorite hobbies include sports, animals, and art. She enjoys riding her four-wheeler and exploring with her metal detector. Her dad works in the Madison county engineer’s office and was the inspiration for her illustrated essay.
