RE: Weather Reminder–Early Dismissals / Late Starts/ Cancellations
We have already experienced our first round of inclement weather. After receiving a few questions, we wanted to send out some weather related reminders to all students, staff and community members. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
The Interstate 35 Community School District currently provides an automated notification service. This notification provides families with automated phone calls, emails and text messages for notifications from the school district when school is starting late, dismissing early or being canceled. These notifications are sent to the numbers and email addresses parents have provided to the school district. If at any time you would like to update your preferences, parents may do so by contacting the school.

We will do our best to announce decisions to delay or cancel by 6 a.m. as we look closely at the weather conditions for our school district. In the event there would be an early dismissal, the school will send out a notification as soon as possible.
During inclement weather and/or road conditions, we may be limited in reaching parts of the bus routes. The Transportation Department will notify parents if a designated location is warranted. There is also an updated Hard Surface Plan. Hard Surface Plan This will be used as needed, due to rural road conditions. Please note that there will not be a Truro Town Stop if the hard surface only plan is warranted.
Typically, when students are dismissed early for weather conditions (winter weather) high school practices and contests will be canceled or postponed. If school is canceled the night before, decisions on “open” gym or mat will be made by noon on the day in question. Anytime there is no school and it is ok to have “open” gym or mat, it will always be optional. All middle school practices and competitions will be canceled if we dismiss early or if school is canceled.
These notifications are also provided to television stations KCCI, WHO, and Local 5 and are typically found on their websites and are broadcast on their stations.
These announcements can also be found on the district's website www.roadrunnerpride.org, the district Facebook page www.facebook.com/I35Roadrunners, and through the I-35 app which is available on Google Play and the Apple App store.
If you deem the weather is not safe to transport your student to and from school, please contact the school office. All weather related absences are excused absences.
