6th graders have been learning about the geography of Mesopotamia. They had to create a skit and play the role of a family deciding on whether they would have the best chance of survival in northern or southern Mesopotamia. They had to discuss the physical and environmental advantages and disadvantages of both locations when making their family decision.

Congratulations to Addison Scrivner who was accepted for BOTH the South Central Iowa Bandmasters' Association Honor Band AND the Opus Honor Choir.
Addison had to audition for both of these events, and she was competing against students from all schools in South Central Iowa for the honor band (including the Des Moines Metro), and students in all schools across Iowa for the honor choir.
These are the highest honors that a middle school Iowa music student can earn.

Interstate 35 Juniors & Seniors attended Auto/Diesel Day at DMACC on Friday.
Students learned about automotive and diesel technology programs, explored potential career opportunities in the field, and gained hands-on experience with automotive and diesel equipment and met with industry professionals. Career exploration events are a great way for students to get hands-on experience and to learn more about a variety of educational opportunities available to them.
