April was Financial Literacy Month, and students in Mrs. Llewellyn’s class worked to master a variety of financial literacy standards. Students got their hands on some groceries to practice determining unit price. Way to go, Roadrunners!

The I-35 Drama Department is proud to present "Murder on the 518" on Friday, May 5 at 7:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 6 at 2:00 pm. Red-eye travelers on the westbound 518 are in for a surprise when first one passenger, and then another, mysteriously drop dead right before their eyes — and just as the train is halted by a rock slide in an isolated canyon. Because the pair appears to have been poisoned, anyone and everyone in the train dining car is a suspect! (Murder on the 518 by Michelle Giles produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Services, Denver, CO.)

Last week, 21 students and adult mentors attended the 2023 I-35 Hunter Safety Field Day. A big thanks to Roger Hutton for hosting us at Hutton Taxidermy. Another big thanks to the Iowa DNR for supplies.

Students currently in kindergarten- 4th are invited to attend our Summer Jump Start program this summer between July 6 and August 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00a - 11:30a. Students can be dropped off at the front door on those days and enjoy lessons in literacy, writing, math, and creativity/inquiry during each day of attendance. Students will also enjoy a daily snack and recess. Students will be grouped by age for instructional lessons, and our goal is to provide a fun and engaging jump start to the school year content for all students that are able to participate! If you would like to have your student(s) participate, please complete the registration form at https://tinyurl.com/mv47zyhf
